Requirements and application process of CPT

  • The legal requirements of CPT:
    CPT (Curricular Practical Training) is a license granted by the U.S. government to allow students to work legally outside school. After one year’s study, foreign students can apply for CPT related to their fields and majors, which can not include English language training practice.
  • Time requirements:
    Part-time CPT is classified as 20 hours per week or less. Students who exceed two years of part-time CPT are ineligible for OPT for that academic level.
    Full-time CPT is more than 20 hours per week. Students who exceed one year of full-time CPT  are ineligible for OPT for that academic level.
